Ria Persad Carlo
Founder
Ria Persad has worked in the Defense and Space Science, Energy, and Education sectors since 1992 and is a concert pianist. She was a Harvard Scholar and studied Mathematics and Astrophysics at Princeton and Cambridge Universities. In 2005, she started a consulting firm (Ivy League Consulting of America) to help students reach their dreams in academia and career life. Having come from a disadvantaged background, scholarships and grants enabled her to pursue her educational goals. She has been an active volunteer for mentorship, minority and women's issues, special education, and community outreach.
Paul Coulter
Director
Paul Coulter graduated summa cum laude from Bowling Green State University with dual degrees in Business and English, receiving the Outstanding Student Award for Scholarship, Service, and Leadership. He currently works as the Sales Manager for Starwood Hotels and Resorts at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. He attended college on scholarships without incurring loans and is happy to be a part of an organization that helps students minimize their financial obligations with a view towards debt-free education. Paul's vision is that this Foundation will inspire the chain reaction of giving and receiving; as one receives, he or she is then more capable of giving back to his or her community.
Mark Carlo
Director
Mark Carlo graduated from the University of South Florida, has served as the President of the Student Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, and currently works as a Chemical and Process Engineer. He has done research on alternative energy and has served as a partner and CIO of a financial services company. Mark is the first one in his family to have gone to college, and he enjoys being a part of an organization that helps students attain their educational goals as they realize their potential and benefit their families, their community, and, ultimately, their nation.
April Coulter
Advisor
April Coulter joins the Freedom Scholars of America team with expertise in Educational and Nonprofit Administration, Marketing, Fundraising, and Donor Relations. A graduate of Elon University in Public Administration and Political Science, April has served as a trainer in leadership and management skills. As a servant-leader, she has received the Girl Scouts Silver Award and the Mayor's Service Award for 2 years in a row for outstanding contributions of service in North Carolina. Her studies in Spain, Portugal, Hong Kong, and China have given her a global perspective in bringing about solutions that benefit her country and the world.
